A transient man has been jailed in connection with a fatal shooting at a home in south Tulsa, according to police.
Officers responded around 10:15 p.m. Friday to the residence in the 6000 block of South Louisville Avenue, where they found James Johnson dead in the kitchen with a gunshot wound to the head.
Police said Ceasar M. Smith, 26, had called 911 to report he shot the man. Smith reportedly told detectives he went to the home with a gun "to help collect a debt" and that when he was pistol-whipping Johnson, the gun accidentally fired.
Smith was arrested on a complaint of second-degree murder and remains held at Tulsa County jail with bail set at $500,000.
