The ladies of the new Lilith Fair documentary are siding with Jimmy Kimmel as Disney — parent company of the film’s distributor, ABC News Studios — continues to deal with the fallout from last week’s suspension of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”
Sarah McLachlan and her fellow performers canceled their sets at Sunday night’s premiere of “Lilith Fair: Building a Mystery” in support of free speech.
“I know you’re expecting a performance tonight, and I’m so grateful to all of you for coming, and I apologize if this is disappointing, but we have collectively decided not to perform but instead to stand in solidarity in support of free speech,” McLachlan said during her opening remarks at the premiere, per Deadline . “Thank you for your understanding.”
McLachlan and Jewel, who also appears in the
