HARRODSBURG - Some team had to earn their first victory of the season on Friday as the Southwestern Warriors traveled north to take on the Titans of Mercer County. Despite being close in score up until the fourth quarter, it was the Warriors that largely dominated en route to a 53-30 victory.
Southwestern scored quick in the first quarter on a 41-yard interception return for a touchdown from Tayden Richardson. After a successful two-point conversion the visitors had an 8-0 lead. Mercer chipped away at that lead on a touchdown pass from Cornelius Mapp that made it 8-7 midway through the quarter. The Warriors added another score before the end of the period on a five-yard touchdown run from Aiden Whitson, however another touchdown pass from Mapp made the score 15-14 at the end of the first
