The Higley Unified School District Governing Board has approved an agreement with the Center for the Future of Arizona and Arizona State University to bring student-led participatory budgeting to campuses during the 2025-26 school year.
Through the school participatory budgeting initiative , students will help shape school improvement projects by proposing ideas, campaigning for them and voting on which ones should receive funding.
The Center for the Future of Arizona will provide $13,000 to support implementation across 13 schools, along with training, technical assistance, and evaluation support in partnership with ASU and the Maricopa County Recorder’s Office.
