New Delhi, Sept 22: Worldwide spending on artificial intelligence (AI) is projected to reach nearly $1.5 trillion in 2025, marking a 50% increase from approximately $988 billion in 2024, according to a Gartner report.

Global AI spending is expected to exceed $2 trillion in 2026, driven by AI integration in products like smartphones and PCs.

The main contributors to spending in 2025 include generative AI in smartphones ($298 billion) and AI services ($283 billion). The forecast anticipates continued expansion in AI infrastructure investments by major tech players, including both U.S. and Chinese companies.

By 2026, spending on generative AI in smartphones is expected to grow to $393 billion, with significant contributions from AI services, servers, and software.
