STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Coffee lovers across America are getting ready to celebrate their favorite beverage as National Coffee Day approaches on September 29, while coffee enthusiasts worldwide will mark International Coffee Day on October 1.

There are more than 33 dedicated coffee brands on Staten Island, ranging from mom-and-pop shops to national chains.

National Coffee Day’s origins trace back to 2005, but the holiday gained significant momentum in 2009, when the Southern Food and Beverage Museum in New Orleans officially designated September 29 as Coffee Day during the inaugural New Orleans Coffee Festival.
