BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) - State police say a Burlington officer shot at a person during a daylong standoff in the city on Sunday.

It happened on Riverside Avenue near Intervale Avenue.

Police were called to a disturbance at about 7:30 a.m. and were there all day and into the evening.

State police are now investigating the officer-involved shooting, which is standard protocol in such cases.

They say the person who was shot at is in custody and being treated for their injuries.

Troopers say they will release the identity of the officer who shot their gun after 24 hours. That officer is on paid administrative leave from the Burlington police.
