ATLANTA — A man was shot and critically injured late Saturday night near Downtown Atlanta.

An Atlanta Police Department statement said it happened on Hill Street in the Capital Gateway neighborhood off Memorial Drive.

APD said officers responded to the scene a little after 10 p.m., finding a "male with gunshot wounds." That man was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

The department did not have additional details about how the shooting may have unfolded and whether there is suspect information.

"Investigators with the Aggravated Assault unit will be working to determine to circumstances surrounding the shooting," the police statement said.
