Ye has reignited controversy following the resurfacing of a clip in which he says that the Black Lives Matter movement is worse than the devil.
The footage is from the documentary In Whose Name? , which sheds new light on the tension behind the scenes during the making of his 2021 album Donda .
In the scene, Ye—formerly known as Kanye West —is seen in conversation with Playboi Carti , where he explains his decision to cut longtime collaborator Pusha T’s verse from the track “Off The Grid.”
Despite Carti complimenting Pusha’s performance, Ye is unwavering in his decision to discard it. His reasoning? An uncompromising stance against any mention of the Black Lives Matter movement in his music—even from featured artists.
“I’d rather y’all be like, ‘I’m killing 20 ni**as’ or ‘I
