History and Significance of Shardiya Navratri 2025: Among the two Navratris celebrated in India, Shardiya Navratri holds the greatest significance. It is also known as Maha Navratri because of its deep spiritual, cultural, and religious importance. Falling in the lunar month of Ashwin during Sharad Ritu (autumn), the word Shardiya itself is derived from the season of Sharad.

This festival, observed in September or October, symbolises the victory of good over evil, culminating in Dussehra (Vijaya Dashami) on the tenth day. It is believed that during this period, Goddess Durga defeated the demon Mahishasura, embodying the triumph of dharma (righteousness) over adharma (evil).
