Berkeley County, S.C. (WCSC) - Berkeley County deputies and multiple agencies have ended their weekend search efforts after a diver was found dead.

Deputies responded to Bushy Park Boat Landing at 12:45 p.m. Saturday following reports of a diver in distress, according to the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office.

Berkeley County Sheriff Duane Lewis confirmed Monday that the diver had been found and had died.

Agencies that assisted with the original call include Berkeley County Fire and EMS, Central Berkeley Fire and EMS, Pimlico Rural Volunteer Fire Department, Summerville Fire-Rescue and the U.S. Coast Guard.

The Coast Guard is leading the investigation into this incident.

An official cause and manner of death have not yet been released.
