A 45-year-old man was shot and killed late Sunday after police said he was involved in an altercation at a QuikTrip west of downtown.

Officers responded around 11:30 p.m. to the QT at 220 N. Gilcrease Museum Road, where Justin Mattingly was found with a fatal gunshot wound to the head, police said in a news release Monday.

Detectives learned Mattingly was involved in an altercation that began inside the convenience store and later continued in the parking lot, police said.

"Video from the store showed the man assaulting Mattingly, and Mattingly making threats back at him," the release states.

The altercation continued outside when Mattingly and a friend, both on motorcycles, pulled up behind and beside the other man's car at a gas pump.
