Residents of two homes in Calgary’s northeast are without a roof over their heads after a fire Sunday afternoon.
Alex Kwan with the Calgary Fire Department (CFD) says around 4:40 p.m., crews were called to a two-story residential fire on Covepark Drive NE in Coventry Hills.
Multiple calls were also made to 911 reporting the blaze was spreading to a neighbouring home.
There was also heavy smoke reported.
Kwan says the decision was made at that time to call a second alarm.
Crews were able to knockdown the spreading fire with hoses and search the basement suite and other areas of the home to confirm all those living in the house where the fire started had got out safely.
Firefighters were also able to rescue two turtles and help the residents get their valuables out of the home once the
