NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – A man is accused of firing a shot at his girlfriend during a Monday morning dispute.

Officers with the North Charleston Police Department responded to an apartment on Rolling Fork Road around 4:30 a.m. regarding a domestic dispute.

Once there, the victim told police that she and the suspect, 40-year-old Matthew Rawcliffe, had been arguing when he chased her upstairs and fired a gun at her. No one was struck.

A struggle ensued thereafter, and the victim was able to wrestle the weapon away from Rawcliffe, according to police.

The agency said she then armed herself with a skateboard and told Rawcliffe to leave the apartment. The man took off but was later found lying in nearby woods.
