HAILEY — The Idaho Dark Sky Alliance (IDSA) is launching a fundraising campaign to raise $200,000, which will enable it to better protect and preserve central Idaho's dark skies for future generations of people and wildlife.

IDSA was established in 2020 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization to protect the night sky and reduce light pollution through education and advocacy.

As IDSA enters its next five years, it is planning to expand the group’s impact, said, So far, the group has raised $48,000 toward our goal of $200,000, said Carol Cole, IDSA board chair.

This summer, the IDSA, in collaboration with the city of Stanley, broke ground on the observatory in Stanley’s Pioneer Park. It will be a hub for future public programs and house a powerful 14-inch telescope to provide detailed views
