Known as the Yankees' M&M Boys, Roger Maris and Mickey Mantle made themselves baseball legends in 1961 with their home run race. Ultimately, Roger Maris would take the crown with 61 home runs in a single season, dethroning Babe Ruth, whose record of 60 home runs still ranks second with the Yankees. Mickey Mantle would hit 54 home runs before an injury prevented him from continuing his run.
