You’re in for a real treat today!

Rowan MacNally is my granddaughter and soon to be 10 years old. She is a voracious reader, thinking about being a librarian some day and trying her hand at storytelling and writing.

On a recent visit, she handed me a piece she wrote and thought “It might have some ideas you could use for the Times Leader column.”

I agree and present it here with minimal editing, some spelling adjustment and anonymization:

“Every day people suffer from hazards like choking and sickness and bad injuries. For example, a 9-year-old boy whose initials are AN, one day was sucking on a piece of Easter candy and when he sucked in too much, started to choke. Luckily his father knows the Heimlich maneuver and saved his son.”
