OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Mayor John Ewing Jr. will hold a news conference Monday afternoon over recurring homeless encampments in Omaha.
According to Ewing’s office, he will speak at 1 p.m. Monday over a program that addresses the homeless encampment issue in the city. Threshold Continuum of Care Executive Director Jason Feldhaus will join Ewing in the announcement.
The news conference will come one day before the City Council is set to discuss a proposed ordinance for encampments on public property. Under this outlaw, those that do not comply would face penalties.
A release states that Ewing’s plan “would provide stronger coordination and faster response” to the encampments in comparison to the proposed ordinance.
