Sheppard Mullin Richter & Hampton announced Thursday that it is adding a 21-attorney intellectual property litigation team that had previously worked for the Boston-based legal powerhouse Ropes & Gray.

The announcement said the team includes leading patent trial lawyers, including partner Steven Pepe, a former Ropes & Gray intellectual property practice group chair. The move marks a significant expansion of Sheppard Mullin’s IP practice.

“Bringing our entire team to Sheppard Mullin was an easy choice,” said Pepe, in a statement. “In addition to the firm’s global reputation in IP litigation, Sheppard Mullin is committed to growing and investing in the practice throughout the United States and South Korea, where we have many clients.”
