On Thursday, September 18, 2025, Suffolk County SPCA detectives charged a Wyandanch woman with animal cruelty and resisting arrest. Roy Gross, Chief of the Suffolk County SPCA, said that SPCA Detectives charged Jasmine Petro, 37, of Wyandanch with Animal Cruelty and Resisting Arrest, both misdemeanors. An additional felony charge of Assault 2nd is being considered, as a SPCA detective was injured during the course of attempting to place the defendant in custody. The detective self-transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore, where he was treated and discharged.
