BLACK HAWK COUNTY, Iowa — Jacob Leigh Hamilton, 51, of Conrad, Iowa, was arrested by Black Hawk County Sheriff's deputies on September 22 for first-degree murder. The charge relates to a shooting that occurred on July 14, 2024, in Hudson.

Officers responded to 322 South Washington Street, Apartment 13, where they found Zachary Michael Drinovsky, 36, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Drinovsky was alive when officers arrived but died shortly after. Hamilton admitted to shooting Drinovsky, claiming self-defense following an altercation.

The Black Hawk County Sheriff's Office, with the Hudson and Waterloo Police Departments, investigated the incident. The Iowa Attorney General's Office reviewed the case, concluding that Hamilton "re-armed, re-engaged outside, and intentionally killed
