Rain or shine thousands of people show up every year for the Alzheimer’s Association’s Walk To End Alzheimer’s at the Detroit Zoo, and this year was no exception.

On Sunday, more than 5,000 individuals attended the morning event. It’s this kind of support that has made it the world’s largest event dedicated to Alzheimer’s care, support and research.

It’s also one of nearly two dozen events held across Michigan.

Last year the combined efforts raised more than $2.4 million.

This year the count from Sunday’s walk at the Detroit Zoo is currently at $627,985. The goal is $850,000 and that is possible considering people can continue to fundrais
