AUBURN, Ala. (WIAT) — Bruce Pearl, who has led the the Auburn men's basketball team for 11 years, will be retiring from the team, ESPN reports.

The news on Pearl, who led championship teams at Milwaukee and Tennessee before coming to the Plains, was first reported by Jeff Borzello at ESPN. On3 reports that Pearl's son, Steven, will take over the team leading into the season.

At Auburn, Pearl led the Tigers to a 244-123 record, making March Madness five times. Last season, Pearl and the team went all the way to the Final Four, losing to Florida 79-73. The Gators would go on to win the championship.

No other details were announced as to why Pearl decided to retire or what he will do next.
