MANSFIELD, Ohio (WJW) – The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly crash that happened in Mansfield.

According to a news release, troopers responded to a one-car crash on U.S. Route 30 at about 10 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 19.

Troopers said a Cadillac headed westbound on U.S. 30 went off the right side of the road and hit a tree.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. He was identified as Cody Newton, 42, of Lexington.

His passenger was transported to a hospital for minor injuries.
