Recognition keeps rolling in for the University of Rhode Island during this unbeaten start to its football season.

Justin Carcel picked up Defensive Player of the Week honors from the Coastal Athletic Association for his efforts in a 28-7 win over Long Island. That was officially announced in a Monday morning release.

Carcel collected a pair of early interceptions and added a pass breakup that stopped another possession for the Sharks. The Rams celebrated homecoming in front of a sellout crowd at Meade Stadium and pulled away thanks to three total touchdowns from quarterback Devin Farrell.
