ROCKFORD, Ill. — A Rockford woman's ex-boyfriend was given his criminal sentence on Monday.
29-year-old Stillman J. Cunningham, of Las Vegas, Nev., was sentenced to a total of 39 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. He was given 25 years for Attempted First Degree Murder and 14 years for Witness Harassment. When he is released, he will be on mandatory supervision for 3 years.
The sentencing comes after a stabbing in 2023 that left Cunningham's then-girlfriend in critical condition. It also puts to an end a nightmare saga that started in 2016.
The woman and Cunningham started dating in 2016, and she soon became pregnant. As early as 2016 and 2017, the woman said Cunningham was being physically abusive. The couple moved to Arizona, and then to Nevada.
