(NewsNation) — Just after thousands mourned conservative activist Charlie Kirk in a memorial in Arizona, the FBI has promised it will conduct a "thorough and exhaustive" investigation into his alleged killer.

Tyler Robinson, 22, has several charges against him for the Sept. 10 shooting and faces the death penalty if he is convicted.

FBI Director Kash Patel said the agency would also "pursue every lead to its conclusion." That means agents will go through routine procedures during the investigation and then also look at the numerous tips and suggestions from conspiracy theories that have been circulating on the internet.
