A 42-year-old man suspected of possession of fentanyl in Palm Desert was behind bars Monday.

Manuel Gabriel Rivera was arrested Saturday and booked into the Benoit Detention Center in Indio on suspicion of possessing less than an ounce of narcotics for sale, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

He was being held without bail.

Deputies conducted a vehicle check at 8:42 p.m. Saturday in the area of Harris Lane and Washington Street, according to sheriff’s Sgt. Wenndy Brito-Gonzalez.

Deputies determined Rivera was in possession of fentanyl for sale, Brito-Gonzalez said.
