U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s San Diego Field Office reported 155 seizures in August, including nearly 10,000 pounds of narcotics valued at $24 million and more than $340,000 in unreported currency.

Among the largest seizures was on Aug. 27 at the Otay Mesa Cargo Facility, where officers discovered 1,352 pounds of methamphetamine concealed in 225 wood furniture pieces inside a red tractor-trailer driven by a 36-year-old male border crossing cardholder. The driver’s visa was canceled, and the tractor-trailer and narcotics were seized.

On Aug. 13 at the Calexico East Port of Entry, CBP officers used a K-9 to detect narcotics in a commercial bus. A subsequent inspection uncovered 241 pounds of methamphetamine concealed in the gas tank. The driver’s visa was canceled, the driver was a
