Former Rep. Morrissette, who served as legislator in two states, dies

Former state Rep. Richard Morrissette, an attorney who represented south Oklahoma City in the state Legislature from 2004 to 2016, has died at 69.

Morrissette died Sunday, Sept. 21, after a battle with liver and bile duct cancer, said Joe Dorman, a former Democratic state representative who worked alongside Morrissette.

Morrissette frequently appeared on local television news shows to explain the political process to Oklahomans. Decades before he became an Oklahoma state legislator, he served in the New Hampshire Legislature .
