A man accused of setting off a mass shooting at an Edmonton community hall has been found not guilty of the charges against him.

Alinur Mohamed Mussa, 37, was acquitted of manslaughter Friday after a trial on his role in the Aug. 29, 2021, shooting at a party inside Duggan Community League Hall.

Six people were injured in the shooting, which included exchanges of gunfire between multiple armed men. Hamza Mohamed, who fell to the floor wounded, died when Christopher Wilson fired three rounds into his head.

The Crown theorized Mussa took the first shot at Mohamed, but Court of King’s Bench Justice Eric Macklin found the prosecution had not proven its case beyond a reasonable doubt.
