Matt Frucci will be the next executive producer of NBC Nightly News with Tom Llamas , while continuing to serve as the EP of the anchor’s NBC News Now newscast, Top Story.

Frucci will succeed Meghan Rafferty, who has joined Versant as VP of news standards. Frucci will officially take the role on Oct. 6 when he returns from paternity leave.

In a memo, Janelle Rodriguez, executive vice president of NBC News programming, wrote, “Matt knows Nightly inside and out. As EP of the weekend editions for more than six years, he led the show to multiple season wins. He has also served as EP for countless NBC News primetime specials and breaking news coverage, including the Emmy-winning reporting of the January 6th attack on the U.S. Capitol.”
