MELBOURNE, Fla. – A person was injured in a shooting in Melbourne on Saturday evening, according to a news release.

Melbourne police said they responded to the 600 block of Dartmouth Avenue around 7:30 p.m.

According to the release, the incident began as a domestic argument when the suspect – later identified as 22-year-old Quentin Mosquera – “discharged a firearm, striking the victim one time.”

Police said after the shooting, Mosquera then fled. A family member took the victim to the hospital.

The victim’s injuries are not life-threatening, according to the release.

Mosquera later turned himself in to the Melbourne Police Department, where he was arrested.

He faces charges of aggravated batter
