The 18-year-old forward played his first game Friday since suffering an eye injury last December. Article content Article content
“It was awesome to see him play again,” Sting head coach Alan Letang said after a season-opening loss. “That kid’s been through a ton, the adversity, the mental up and down. It was real inspiring to see him stand up in the dressing room and call out the lineup.
“It’s been almost a long year for him. I wish the outcome was better for us, (and) for him, especially. That’s a kid with a big heart.”
Kostuch was injured on a fluke play when an opponent’s stick slipped under his visor and went into his left eye.
