SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – The Huntington High School band is gearing up for a busy and competitive season under the leadership of band director Dr. Roderick Jefferson.

The Raiders will travel to four major competitions this fall, including Cedar Hill, Texas, on October 4, Carroll’s Battle of the Bands in Monroe, Peabody’s Battle of the Bands in Alexandria, and the highly anticipated LMEA State Marching Championships at McNeese State University in Lake Charles on November 4.

Dr. Jefferson says the state competition is especially significant, with bands from across Louisiana competing for the top title in the HBCU-style “High Stepping Division.” But moving a 125-piece marching band comes at a cost. The school is looking to raise at least $10,000 to cover travel expenses.
