KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A woman who was accused of a deadly hit-and-run crash last year inside a parking garage of the University of Kansas Cancer Center has been convicted and sentenced.
According to online court records, Kelsi Carmack, 25, pleaded guilty last week in Johnson County District Court to leaving the scene of a crash that left 94-year-old William Ward dead. She was ordered to undergo three years of probation.
The crash happened on March 28, 2024, at one of the cancer center's parking garages on its Westwood campus at 2650 Shawnee Mission Parkway.
According to an affidavit FOX4 obtained in the case, Carmack was heading to work and pulled into the parking garage when the crash occurred.
In an interview with the sheriff's office, she said she didn't know she hit anyone.
