MOUNT PLEASANT, Texas — A vehicle crashed into the front of the Health and Human Services building in Mount Pleasant.

According to MPPD, the crash occurred on Sept. 20 around 5 p.m. at the location on 1014 N. Jefferson. The building was unoccupied at the time.

MPPD officers forced entry into the vehicle to assist the driver, who was the lone occupant of the vehicle. During the investigation, officers discovered the vehicle was driving south when it struck a utility pole, severing the pole located north of the building. The vehicle reportedly continued southbound and struck the southeast corner of the building.

Significant damage was reported to the building. The driver, Cassandra Sanchez, 36, of Titus County, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and unlawfu
