NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. (WFLA) — The New Port Richey Police Department said it is investigating an "incident" involving two of the city's public works employees.

A spokesperson for the department said it happened at a lift station near the intersection of Bandura Avenue and Ashmore Drive. Lift stations are part of the wastewater and sewage management systems operated by the city.

No additional information was provided on the nature of the incident or if the employees were injured, but police said it looks like whatever happened was accidental.

Police are still investigating, and asked that the public avoid the area to allow first responders to work without interruption.
