NEWARK —The University of Delaware Board of Trustees has hired Witt/Kieffer to find the institution’s next president.

The top executive search firm was brought on by the board to assess whether interim UD President Laura Carlson will stay on as the university’s president or whether UD will embark on a national search. Carlson was appointed after the previous president, Dennis Assanis, resigned in June. Assanis later became the chancellor of the University of California Santa Clara.

“Looking ahead, the Board of Trustees recognizes the importance of a robust and inclusive process to select the University’s next permanent president,” UD Board of Trustees Chair Terri Kelly wrote in a letter to the university community on Friday. “This month, Witt/Kieffer will host listening sessions
