Scientists recently discovered evidence that could point to ancient life on Mars . NASA's Science Mission Directorate says it's "the closest we've actually come to discovering ancient life on Mars."
Researchers from Texas A&M University, Rice University, Johnson Space Center, and the Lunar Planetary Institute all published their findings in the journal Nature.
Kirsten Siebach , assistant professor of Earth, Environmental, and Planetary Sciences at Rice University, joins Houston Matters with Craig Cohen to share details of these findings (in the audio and video above), including biological signatures left behind with the presence of water, organic material (like carbon), and the presence of reactions that release energy.
