EUFAULA, Ala. (WRBL) — Eufaula voters will return to the polls Tuesday to settle the city’s mayoral race after last month’s municipal election ended without a clear winner.
Incumbent Mayor Jack Tibbs, who has led the east Alabama city for 13 years, faces political newcomer Chris Beam in a runoff. Beam, a nurse who works in Eufaula, trailed Tibbs by fewer than 100 votes in August.
Tibbs said the campaign has been challenging.
“Yeah, it has been, actually. Times are changing with technology, and social media nowadays can get pretty brutal with the different people that are involved,” Tibbs said.
Beam said his campaign has energized voters.
