CAMDEN, S.C. (WIS) - Crews are still on the scene in Camden after a massive fire broke out Saturday night that destroyed the DeRoyal Textile Building, formerly known as Hermitage Mill Plant.

Personnel from the Camden Fire Department will remain at the site of the blaze until conditions are deemed safe for the public and workers, the city said in a release.

Meanwhile, KBI Construction, hired by DeRoyal, is continuing to clear debris and take down the remaining walls that pose a threat to the public, according to the city.

The road in front of the plant has remained closed to allow emergency responders and contractors to work safely and keep the public safe. The incident remains under investigation by SLED.
