Reform UK has announced plans to abolish the right of migrants to settle permanently in the UK – putting thousands at risk of deportation if the party wins the next election.
People without British citizenship would have to apply for a visa every five years, meet a higher salary threshold and pass tougher English language tests, with most banned from accessing benefits.
But a press conference earlier was short on detail – Nigel Farage side-stepping many questions on who would be affected. Labour has branded it a half-baked, unworkable policy that would break up families.
