COLUMBIA, S.C. — A former FedEx employee has been charged with multiple offenses after authorities say he stole South Carolina Education Lottery (SCEL) scratch-off tickets from a damaged package during transit.
According to a statement of probable cause filed by law enforcement, Trevor Jamir Hampton, 25, is accused of taking the lottery tickets on August 19, 2025, while employed at the FedEx Ground facility located in Florence.
The tickets, which were being shipped to a retailer, were reportedly removed from a package after it was damaged in transit.
Investigators say Hampton a dmitted to the theft after being read his Miranda rights, and surveillance footage later showed him attempting to cash one of the stolen tickets at a Cruizers convenience store also in Florence.
