An Alabama capital murder suspect is back in custody after a weekend escape from the Perry County Jail.
Darren Tyrone “Dog Face” Brooks Jr., 23, surrendered to authorities in Bibb County following his predawn escape Sunday, District Attorney Robert Turner Jr. announced Monday morning.
Authorities have not said how Brooks escaped, but he was discovered missing at 12:42 a.m.
Brooks is now also charged with second-degree escape, Turner said.
The district attorney thanked multiple law enforcement agencies that assisted in the search for Brooks including the Perry County Sheriff’s Office, the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, the U.S Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force, the Fourth Judicial Circuit Drug Task Force, the Wilcox County Sheriff’s Office, and the Selma Police Department.
