Arden Walker and his Colorado teammates knew there was potential for a big play when the fourth quarter began on Saturday night.
Wyoming faced third-and-eight from its own 3-yard line on the first play of the final quarter, and Walker busted through and sacked Cowboys quarterback Kaden Anderson for a safety.
“It felt great,” the senior defensive end said. “I was happy just to make a play for my team. We were all, like, before on that time out was making sure that we want to go make a big play, and I’m glad I was able to do it.”
In the moment, the safety gave the Buffs a 17-point lead in what would turn out to be a 37-20 victory. It evened the Buffs’ record at 2-2 ahead of a matchup this Saturday at Folsom Field against No. 25 BYU (8:15 p.m., ESPN).
