Gonzalo Leon Jr., the man accused of fatally shooting 11-year-old Julian Guzman during a "ding dong ditch" prank in Houston last month, was indicted Friday by a Harris County grand jury on a charge of first-degree murder.

In addition to last week's felony murder indictment, the 42-year-old Leon was indicted on two more felony charges: injury to a child and aggravated assault.

In light of the new charges, Judge Emily Detoto raised the bond amount for Leon from $1 million to $1.3 million.

In an interview with Houston Public Media , defense attorney Gianpaulo Macerola suggested prosecutors with the Harris District Attorney's Office were "hedging their bets" by adding the new charges that he says require less evidence for a conviction than the murder
