Inside The Crown Market in West Hartford on Monday afternoon, shoppers picked up their final items for their High Holiday tables.

“We have a brisket for Rosh Hashanah, that’s a very popular one,” owner Khen Raviv said.

From meats to cakes, side dishes to challahs, the 85-year-old market takes care of the cooking for many in the Jewish community.

“We want to eat extra good because it’s going to represent the wealthy and healthy year coming,” Raviv said.

Rosh Hashanah, which is the Jewish New Year, begins on Monday at sundown. It marks the commencement of the Jewish High Holy Days, which run through Yom Kippur next Thursday.
