FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) -- Fresno County health officials have confirmed the county's first human West Nile Virus death this year.
This is the third human death from the virus in California in 2025.
Health officials did not provide any additional information on the patient.
Back in June, a Tulare County resident also died from the virus.
Symptoms of the virus include a fever, head or body aches, and joint pain.
Some patients may not develop any symptoms at all.
Officials recommend using insect repellent with DEET, wearing long sleeves outdoors, and draining standing water to lower the risk of getting bitten and contracting the disease.
