A young West Lothian dancer is set to represent Scotland at a prestigious international dance competition in Brazil.

Heather Lyon, 18, started ballet at the age of three before it became her passion. She took Royal Academy of Dance ballet classes at local school, KS Dance Academy.

She is set to take part in the prestigious Margot Fonteyn International Ballet Competition in Sao Paulo from October 11-19.

Currently studying at Northern Ballet School, Heather watched others from previous years benefit from attending The Fonteyn Competition.

She said: "I am so excited to take part in this competition and represent my home country of Scotland."

At this annual competition, young dancers from around the world will come together for a week of dance, to win competition prizes and scholarships
